Five Players Who Barcelona Could Sell To Raise Haaland Transfer Fee

Even though the club recently swore in Juan Laporta as its new president, Barcelona will reportedly stop at nothing to ensure that they continue being in the hunt for a proven striker in the summer. Last summer, the Spanish La Liga club created a list of attackers they were very willing to sign, and topping that list was the Netherlands and Lyon's forward Memphis Depay.

The Dutch attacker was a huge priority for the Blaugrana as they doubled their efforts to find a long-term replacement for the departed Luis Suarez who they considered too old to continue spearheading their attack. Barcelona and Depay reportedly arrived at an agreement and all that was left was for Lyon and Barcelona to agree on the best transfer fee that would favor the two parties. However, that agreement was never struck, leaving the deal in jeopardy and giving a confirmation that the player would remain in France for at least another season.

A lot has changed since then and there has been a new addition to the list of transfer targets Barca are now pursuing. The first name on that list currently is Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The striker is the hottest prospect in world football right now and has been in an eccentric form so far this season.

Despite their strong interest in the Norwegian forward, Barcelona's chances of signing him started to be in doubt following the club's current financial situation that has seen them go into debts revolving around the £1 billion mark.

However, according to the latest reports, the Catalan giants are reportedly ready to go all the way to get their man and are interested in selling as many as five players to fund the transfer. Antoine Griezmann, Martin Braithwaite, Philippe Coutinho, Junior Firpo, and Samuel Umtiti are the players on the list of the expected departures and will leave once decent suitors come for them.
