FRANCESCO TOTTI SET TO RETIRE AT ROMA AFTER NEXT SEASON

AS Roma legend, Francesco Totti is rumoured to be set to retire from club football after next season.

The centre forward who is 39 years of age has had his life long career at the club and was set to leave the club after being uncertain of his future at the club until the general manager of the club revealed that the star player would continue to play at the club.

AS Roma finished third in the Serie A this just concluded season and have started making plans to unseat Juventus from the top spot in the league, ahead of the coming season. Totti’s current contract was due to end this season but Roma president James Pallotta offered fresh terms to the veteran captain. Totti has spent his entire professional career with the Giallorossi. Totti holds the club’s record of 304 goals since making his debut at the age of 16.

The centre forward raked in just a few games under coach Luciano Spalletti this season sitting in the sidelines aside missing a huge chunk of the first half of the games in the League to biceps femoris muscle injury. The Italy international also had calf problems but made the squad 23 times in 38 matches in attacking midfield, supporting striker and core central forward roles.
At the friendly against Al Ahly, Baldissoni, speaking on Roma TV said of Totti:

"Francesco Totti is an idol here in the United Arab Emirates. Even more so than [Mohamed] Salah. It's nice that they are the two who are most acclaimed by the fans, it seems like a nice handover between the past and the future of the club.

“Although I must say, Totti will continue to play for Roma and will be part of the Giallorossi family for a long time to come.''

After enjoying a successful career, there are speculations that the player is set to hang his boots after the coming season.
